How to use this table for Mathematics
Mathematics marks are concentrated in fewer chapters than Physics or Chemistry. Coordinate Geometry stands out: it covers straight lines, circles and conic sections, so it is really several topics under one chapter name, which is part of why it carries so many marks.
Calculus questions draw on several chapters at once. Limits, Continuity & Differentiability comes first, then Integral Calculus and Differential Equations. Study them in that order, since each uses the previous one.
Algebra chapters such as Sets, Relations & Functions, Permutations & Combinations and Sequences & Series are class 11, and many students leave them weak. They carry real marks here and they are used inside calculus and probability questions too.
Frequently asked questions
The Mathematics chapters with the most expected marks are Coordinate Geometry (~15 marks, 13.8%), Integral Calculus (~9 marks, 8.3%), Sets, Relations & Functions (~9 marks, 8.3%), based on 4,499 solved previous-year questions (2023–2026).
6 of the 14 Mathematics chapters cover about 50% of expected marks, and the top 10 cover about 80%. Giving those chapters more of your time pays off more than spreading it evenly across every chapter.
Class 11 chapters carry about 57% of expected Mathematics marks and Class 12 chapters about 43%. Both years count, so you can't afford to skip Class 11 Mathematics.
Trigonometry (~4 marks, 3.7%), Binomial Theorem (~5 marks, 4.6%) and Differential Equations (~6 marks, 5.5%) carry the fewest expected Mathematics marks. Leave them until the higher chapters are secure, but don't skip them: they still come up, and short chapters are quick to cover.
Coordinate Geometry covers straight lines, circles, parabolas, ellipses and hyperbolas, so one chapter holds several topics that each get their own questions. It is a class 11 chapter, which makes it one of the best uses of study time in class 11.
Each topic has an expected-marks value calculated from 4,499 solved JEE Main PYQs (2023–2026), and a chapter's weightage is the sum of its topics' expected marks. The numbers are recalculated when new papers are added.
