Who this covers

This policy applies to jeeify.com and the Jeeify web app, run by Jeeify ("we", "us"). It explains how we handle personal data about students, and about parents or guardians whose details a student gives us. For anything about your data, email support@jeeify.com or message us on WhatsApp at +91 63831 93452.

What we collect

We collect only what the Service needs to work:

  • Account details: your name, email address, a hashed version of your password (we cannot read it), a profile picture if you add one, and your mobile number.
  • Google sign-in: if you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We do not get your Google password or access to your Google account.
  • Academic profile: target exam and year, current class, board, and coaching institute if you tell us.
  • Parent or guardian contact: an email address, and optionally a phone number, only if you choose to add them in settings. The weekly report goes to the parent email; the phone number is stored for future WhatsApp delivery and is not used today.
  • Learning activity: the questions you attempt and your answers, practice sessions and results, your conversations with the AI tutor and any files or images you attach, bookmarks, mastery scores and the reports we generate for you.
  • Payment records: the plan bought, amount, date, and the Razorpay order and payment identifiers. Card, UPI and bank details are entered in Razorpay’s checkout and never reach us.
  • Technical data: your IP address (used for security checks at sign-up and sign-in), approximate location (country) in our request logs, browser and device information, and the cookies described below.
  • Messages you send us: support requests, feedback and problem reports about questions.

How we use it

We use your data to:

  • Run the Service: sign you in, keep your progress, answer your doubts and grade your practice.
  • Personalise your preparation: choose which questions to show you and what to recommend, based on your activity.
  • Generate weekly progress reports, and send them to a parent or guardian only if you turn that on.
  • Take payments, keep your payment history and answer billing questions.
  • Send account messages and product updates by email, and contact you on WhatsApp about your account where you have given us a number. You can unsubscribe from product updates using the link in any such email.
  • Provide support and respond to problem reports.
  • Keep the Service secure, prevent abuse and enforce our terms.
  • Understand how the Service is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers. We share it only with the service providers below, each of which processes data on our instructions to run part of the Service:

  • Razorpay, which processes payments.
  • OpenAI, which generates the AI tutor’s answers and our AI-written insights. The questions you ask, the content you attach and the study context needed to answer are sent to OpenAI to produce a response.
  • Langfuse, which stores logs of the requests we send to OpenAI - AI tutor conversations and the study data used to write your weekly insights - so we can check the quality of answers and fix mistakes. These logs are linked to an internal account number, not to your name or email.
  • Cloudflare, which hosts the Service, stores your data and uploaded files, and protects sign-up and sign-in from bots.
  • Google Analytics, which gives us aggregate usage statistics. Advertising features and ad personalisation are switched off.
  • Resend, which delivers our emails.
  • Discord, which we use for internal alerts. A new sign-up, a payment, a feedback message or a question report creates an alert for the Jeeify team that includes the name and email address on the account and, for feedback and reports, what you wrote.

Cookies and local storage

We use a small number of cookies, all of them for the Service to function rather than for advertising:

  • A session cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 7 days.
  • A sign-in hint cookie so public pages can show you the right buttons when you are already signed in.
  • A sidebar preference cookie that remembers whether you collapsed the app sidebar.
  • A short-lived cookie that secures Google sign-in while it is in progress.
  • Google Analytics cookies that distinguish one visitor from another for usage statistics.
  • Local storage in your browser for your light or dark theme choice and for remembering that you dismissed the app-install prompt.

Students under 18

Most Jeeify users are school students. If you are under 18, please use Jeeify with the knowledge and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who can contact us at any time about your data. We do not use your data for advertising or profiling beyond the study recommendations the Service exists to give you. Parent notifications are optional and are switched on only by you, in your settings.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account is active so your progress, reports and history stay available to you. To delete your account, email support@jeeify.com from your registered email address. We will delete your account and the personal data we hold about you, including your learning activity and uploaded files. Payment records are retained for as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires, and AI tutor logs held by our providers are removed on their retention schedules.

Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable law, you can ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop processing it where we rely on your consent. You can also raise a grievance about how we have handled your data. Email support@jeeify.com and we will respond within the time the law allows. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian may make these requests for you.

Security

All traffic to Jeeify is encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Our hosting provider protects the Service against attacks and bots, and access to production data is limited to the people who need it. No online service can be completely secure, so please keep your password private and tell us straight away if you notice anything unusual on your account.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the Service or the law changes. The date at the top shows the current version, and we will tell you by email or in the app before a significant change takes effect.
