Curve $A$ leaves the vertical axis at a large value, falls steeply, and then flattens off towards the horizontal axis as $f$ increases - a rectangular-hyperbola shape. Curve $B$ starts at the origin and rises steadily with $f$ as a straight line. The two curves cross.
